Dye penetrant testing: when visual inspection alone is no longer enough.
This non-destructive testing method is used to reveal surface-breaking cracks with the help of a red penetrant and a white developer.
We are currently using dye penetrant testing as part of a development project involving load testing of lifting forks for AGILOX – from static strength testing through to fatigue testing.
By carrying out inspections before, between and after the individual test phases, changes in the weld seams and base material can be systematically monitored. This provides an important basis for assessing and validating fatigue strength during the development process.
