A semi-active damper from Liebherr-Transportation Systems GmbH & Co KG – a key component in chassis technology – was recently subjected to an intensive fatigue qualification and acceptance test at our component test facility.
The test requirement: 2,000,000 load cycles at low frequency, including regular functional tests every 200,000 cycles. After half of the total test time – at 1,000,000 cycles – a planned removal was carried out for interim evaluation by the customer before the second test phase was started.
💡 Special features of the setup
At the center of the test system is our powerful long-stroke hydropulse cylinder with a 600 mm stroke. This large stroke is necessary to be able to operate the semi-active damper realistically over its entire range of motion.
🌡️ Pragmatic cooling solution for stable conditions
To keep the oil in the damper within the optimum temperature window during continuous operation, we have installed a simple but effective water cooling system directly on the test object. A clever solution with common sense – in line with our practical approach at the TIZ.
🔬 With technical expertise, flexibility and an eye for the essentials, we at TIZ Grieskirchen ensure that safety-relevant components are tested under realistic conditions – for maximum reliability in later use.
